Fire damaged an Emporia home on Sunday.
Crews were called to 118 West shortly after 3 pm. Emporia Fire Battalion Chief Eron Steinlage says crews could see fire and heavy smoke as they arrived a few minutes later, eventually finding flames in a second-story bedroom.
The fire damage was limited to the bedroom, but there was smoke damage throughout the house. Steinlage says crews also had to dig into at least the first-floor ceiling to find hot spots. He is estimating roughly $30,000 in damage all told.
The cause and origination point are both under investigation. No injuries were reported.
