Several law enforcement agencies have been in the immediate Emporia area Monday.
Kansas Bureau of Investigation Communications Director Melissa Underwood has confirmed KBI agents are working alongside unspecified federal partners as they handle an operation connected to illegal narcotics.
No other details have been released at this time.
KVOE News received several calls and messages through Monday concerned that the state and federal presence was part of a deportation effort. The only investigative activity mentioned by Underwood was for narcotics.
