A traffic stop near Harveyville late Friday night has led to an arrest of one person for suspected drug paraphernalia distribution.
The Wabaunsee County Sheriff’s Office says the incident developed around 11:20 pm near Kansas Highway 31 and Bradford Road, about four miles west of Harveyville, as a deputy stopped a pickup for alleged failure to maintain lane, defective brake light and broken tag light. The driver, identified as 50-year-old Robert Barber, hometown not listed, told the deputy he did not have a driver’s license because it was suspended. He was arrested without incident and later told authorities he had drug paraphernalia in his truck when deputies asked. They investigated and confirmed the paraphernalia, as well as two blank checks from a Topeka business.
Barber is awaiting a decision on charges. He is being held on suspicion of distributing drug paraphernalia, possession of paraphernalia, possessing methamphetamine and driving while suspended, third or subsequent conviction.
Barber also has a lengthy list of convictions on the Kansas Department of Corrections’ KASPER Offender Population Search website dating back to 1995, including aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary, kidnapping in commission of a crime, criminal in possession of a firearm, theft and criminal financial activity.
