The were lots of reasons to celebrate at Emporia State University’s spring commencement Saturday.
There were the roughly 800 individual celebrations with the number of students receiving undergraduate- and graduate-level degrees. But President Ken Hush says the campus has a lot of energy heading through summer and into the fall 2025 term.
Part of that involves ongoing work through the ESU Foundation. Board of Trustees Chair Jason Fanning says all the work of the Foundation is invested into students, whether it’s through scholarships or through campus projects like the Nursing + Student Wellness Center.
Hush says more “positive” announcements are coming for ESU during the summer months.
While acknowledging enrollment is a challenge, Hush says that’s a national concern for higher education. He also says ESU is “right-sized” and “efficient” as it looks towards the future.
