It was another ranked opponent for the Emporia High baseball team to face in the Emporia Baseball Classic at Soden’s Grove on Saturday afternoon.
Basehor-Linwood, ranked fourth in Class 5A, held the Spartans to one hit in an 8-0 victory. The Bobcats set the tone early with six runs in the first two innings and added single runs in the fifth and sixth innings. Chase Harrington collected the lone hit for the Spartans. Emporia High coach Anthony Markowitz said the Spartans ran into a great team.
Emporia High (13-8) travels to Manhattan for a makeup doubleheader on Thursday and wraps up the regular season on Friday at home against Wichita Southeast.
