Little Lyons Childcare is now in the final stages of becoming a 24/7 childcare facility.
Friday, the center held a groundbreaking ceremony for renovation work on its current classrooms, starting with demolition on the south end of the building. Ignite Emporia Director Michelle Margeson, a recent guest of KVOE’s Morning Show, says eight classrooms will undergo renovation work as part of this wave of work before attention shifts to the north end of the building.
All told, once the work wraps up, Little Lyons will have 11 total classrooms available, which is exciting for many reasons, namely, it will allow the center to operate on a 24/7 basis, catering to the needs of families with both traditional and non-traditional time schedules.
24/7 service has been the ultimate goal for the facility since it was announced well over a year ago. The facility was conceived to help combat the overwhelming need for affordable child care that has been present and growing since the COVID-19 pandemic.
Little Lyons held its grand opening this past September and since that time has been extremely busy, according to Margeson, who told KVOE News they are full with 45 students across their three current classrooms.
