Court proceedings are underway against three Emporians accused of illegally practicing dentistry.
Iris Sandoval-Flores, age 51, has been formally charged with one count of unlicensed practice of dentistry or dental hygiene. She also faces a single count of dealing in false identification documents, including a drivers license and/or a Social Security card. In addition, she is charged with identity theft. She is also charged with human smuggling after allegedly harboring a person both entering the United States illegally and possibly exploited for somebody else’s financial gain.
Rigoberto Sandoval, age 39, and Ana Figueroa, age 41, are both facing single counts of unlicensed practice of dentistry or dental hygiene and unlawful obtaining of a prescription-only drug.
Emporia Police made the arrests late last week and will not divulge information about this case, saying an active investigation continues. Documents posted to the Kansas District Court Public Access Portal indicate illegal activity between January 2023 and early this month.
Preliminary hearings are May 29 for Sandoval-Flores and June 2 for Figueroa and Sandoval.
