The Madison boys and the Northern Heights girls claimed the Lyon County League Championships on Thursday at Welch Stadium.
Madison won its title with 148 points, 16 ahead of runner-up Lebo. Madison was led by Octavian Dean, who won the discus with a toss of 129-5, 110m hurdles in 16.38, 300m hurdles in 43.99 and 200m in 24.24. Brayden Grimmett won the pole vault clearing 11-0. Cruz Leiser finished second (10-6) while Colton Cordell finished third (7-6). Colton Isch won the high jump clearing 6-0, while Grimmett finished third (5-6). Isch also won the javelin with a mark of 162-11 and won the triple jump with a jump of 39-1. Leiser finished third in the 100m (11.92). Mason McDonald finished second in the 200m (24.29) and Leiser took third (24.47). The 4x400m relay team of Kendrick Anderson, Ezequiel Castaneda, Jackson King and Mason Martin finished third (5:45.52). Madison coach Zach Nuessen said it was a great day for the Bulldogs.
Northern Heights won its title with 158 points, 58 ahead of runner-up Olpe. Addisen Petersen won the pole vault clearing 7-6, while Avery Patton finished third (6-6). Jaitlyn Johnson won the shot put (34-11) and the discus with a mark of 132-6), and took third in the javelin (106-8). The 4x800m relay team of Alanna Brecheisen, GraceAnn Cathcart, Laura Cathcart and Josie Tiffany won its race in 10:46.25. The 4x100m relay team of Hayden Saunders, Petersen, Johnson and Patton won their race in 53.79. Patton won the 200m in 28.05 while Petersen finished third (29.75). The 4x400m relay team of Saunders, Tiffany, Hinrichs and Patton won their race in 4:29.21. Ellei McCrory finished second in the 3,200m (13:44.73). Reese Houck finished second in the long jump (4-11). Petersen finished second in the triple jump (31-10.75). Addisyn Hinrichs won the 300m hurdles in 51.95 and finished second in the 100m hurdles (18.10). Saunders finished second in the 100m (13.97). Northern Heights coach Jerritt Curtis said the Lady Wildcats stepped up when needed to.
The Olpe girls finished second. Lilly Skalsky won the 800m in 2:29.56, the 1,600m in 5:42.18 and the 3,200m in 13:07.03. Kinley Heins finished second in the 1,600m (5:53.17) and third in the 800m (2:33.93). Ella Wilson took second in the 300m hurdles (53.43), finished third in the long jump (14-7), third in the triple jump (31-4.25) and in the 100m hurdles (20.13). Hana Cole finished third in the discus (104-4). The 4x400m relay team of Heins, Adrianna Siebers, Bentia Sierra and Skalsky finished third (4:40.28).
The Lebo boys finished second. Caleb Durst won the 800m in 2:03.47 and the 1,600m in 4:32.72. Zach Oswald won the shot put (40-5.25) while taking second in the discus (116-6). Gerek Reber won the long jump with a mark of 19-6 and finished second in the high jump (5-10). Eli Hauff won the 100m in 11.61 and took third in the 400m (56.95). The 4x100m relay team of Hauff, Taegan Kelley, Jaxon Grimmett and Kaden Balding won their race in 47.98. Drew Konrade finished second in the triple jump (36-7). The 4x400m relay team of Hauffer, Reber, Konrade and Durst finished second (3:47.66). The 4x800m relay team of Jesse Durst, Ashton Lattimer, Oswald, and Kelley finished third (11:58.22).
The Lebo girls finished in a tie for third with 67 points. Rachael Barnhardt finished second in the shot put (32-10) and also took second in the discus (115-1). Allison Konrade finished second in the javelin (107-5). The 4x800m relay team of Kennah Speer, Cira Plummer, Susanna Knight, and Ally Peek finished second (10:57.70). Peek finished second in the 800m (2:31.21) Speer finished third in the 1,600m (5:57.29).
The Madison girls also finished tied for third. Jalynn Weakley won the javelin with a toss of 126-11 and finished third in the high jump (4-10) and the 400m (1:07.17). Lily Hudson finished third in the 3,200m (14:02.02). Rylie Watts finished third in the 100m (14.06) while taking second in the 400m (1:05.68). Catherine Seiter finished third in the 300m hurdles (57.52).
The Olpe boys finished third with 103 points. The 4x800m relay team of Isaac Arnold, William Beadles, Millio Anderson and Jesse Kuhlmann won its race in 9:13.35. Cale Steefes won the 400m in 54.44 while Kuhlmann finished second (54.62). The 4x400m relay team of Steffes, Anderson, Ko’Rrel Robinson and Kuhlmann won their race in 3:44.90. Kaleb Arnold finished second in the 1,600m (4:33.78) and took third in the 800m (2:08.75). The 4x100m relay team of Peyton Glenn, Trey Lienemann, Hunter Wellnitz and Robinson finished second (49.40). Glenn finished third in the 110m hurdles (20.28) and also in the 300m hurdles (46.82). Isaac Arnold finished second in the 3,200m (10:52.68) while Beadles finished third (10:55.83).
The Northern Heights boys finished fifth with 49 points. The 4x800m relay team of Kelton Bish, Henry Sheeley, and Cooper and Rees Spade finished second (9:39.99). Spade took second in the 800m (2:05.67). Bish finished third in the javelin (142-2). Sheeley finished third in the triple jump (36-5.50). Liam Wilson finished third in the discus (104-1).
The Hartford girls finished fifth with 49 points. Trinity Windle won the high jump clearing 4-11, won the triple jump with a mark of 33-2.25 and taking second in the long jump (15-1). The 4x100m relay team of Lexi, Mylee and Keighley Giesken-Mears and Windle finished third (56.44).
The Waverly boys finished fifth with 30 points. Kaiser Fraenza finished second in the 110m hurdles (19.08), second in the 300m hurdles (45.41) and took third in the long jump (18-2.50). The 4x100m relay team of Ty Glissman, Fraenza, Dustin Foster and Sam Bailey finished third (50.27).
The Burlingame boys and girls each finished sixth. The boys finished with 44 points, while the girls had 28. Willow Wyatt won the long jump with a mark of 15-1, won the 100m in 13.69 and won the 400m in 1:05.21 and took second in the 200m (29.49). Chloe Suddarth finished third in the shot put (31-5.50). Parker Haid (40-2.50) and Brock Moon (40-1.25) each finished second and third in the shot put.
The Marais des Cygnes Valley boys and girls each finished seventh. The girls recorded 39 points and the boys had 25. Landon Traver finished second in the javelin (147-8), the long jump (19-1) and the 100m (11.86). Akyra Traver won the 100m hurdles in 16.92. The 4x100m relay team of Taytum Gellhaus, Katarra Jackson, Emily Criqui and Traver finished second (55.41).
The Hartford boys finished eighth with 17 points. Cody Cleveland won the 3,200m in 10:49.28 and took third in the 1,600m (4:58.57).
The Waverly girls finished eighth with 23 points. The 4x800m relay team of Jasmynn Bathory, Abby Risch, Anabel Risch and Macy Seems finished third (11:35.32). The 4x400m relay team of Bathory, Abby and Anabel Risch and Josie Romig finishes second (4:37.53).
