A borderline moderate earthquake near Herington was felt near Emporia on Thursday.
The magnitude 3.6 quake developed shortly after 3:30 pm about 3 miles north-northwest of Herington. The US Geological Survey says there were reports of weak to light shaking in Americus, Council Grove, Wilsey and White City. The quake was felt as far away as the Kansas City metropolitan area and Andover.
No damage or injuries were reported.
