Emporia city commissioners will discuss a potential agreement between the city and Champions Landing, and they could also approve the agreement during their meetings Wednesday.
As part of their action meeting, commissioners are considering Dynamic Brewing’s official request to use transient guest tax funding for improvements at Champions Landing, including three regulation-size disc golf courses and a foot-golf course. Along with the city investment of nearly $54,000 in transient guest tax funding, the city will have four years of “limited free public access,” including free greens-fee play for city residents. Emporia State and Flint Hills Technical College students would also qualify for free greens-fee play with valid IDs.
Separately, commissioners could approve a nearly $200,000 bid from APAC-Kansas Shears Division to handle the city’s pavement preservation project.
The study meeting will involve conversations about chicken permit requirements, stormwater issues in the Becker Addition, a report from the Joint Traffic Safety Committee and a discussion about the Joint Task Force on Mill Levy Reduction.
In between the action and study meetings, commissioners will have an executive session for unspecified legal matters.
The action meeting begins at 11 am at the Municipal Court Room, followed by the study session at White Auditorium City Conference Room 1AB.
