Roads will be busy this weekend with the Memorial Day holiday approaching
Over 500,000 Kansans are set to travel this weekend at least 50 miles. AAA Kansas Public & Government Affairs Manager Shawn Steward says a majority of Kansans will be traveling to their destination in their vehicles, but air travel in Kansas will also be up nearly one percent from 2024.
With gas prices below what they were in 2024, Kansas currently has an average of $2.86 per gallon, 11th lowest in the nation. Steward says with gas prices lower, there’s still some items or services that are on the rise with the summer months approaching.
Steward says the Memorial Day holiday weekend is the kickoff to the summer travel months, and kids getting out of school for the summer months.
Steward says a lot of people like to take smaller trips, like going to the lake or scale back on a much bigger vacation, and shrink down travel costs.
