Repairs are done after a vehicle crashed into an Evergy utility pole in northwest Emporia early Thursday.
Lyon County Emergency Communications says a car hit the pole near 24th and Lincoln shortly after 1:30 am. Evergy confirmed a power outage immediately east of that intersection was due to vehicle damage. The pole has been repaired and the intersection, closed for at least two hours, has reopened.
The intersection is just south of a major bridge replacement project for Interstate 35. The project is now about a year old and could continue for several months. Besides a new bridge, the project has also included a special hike-and-bike path under the bridge and benefiting foot or cycle traffic under the bridge and along 24th to the west of Lincoln.
