Thursday afternoon, Central Care Cancer Center received a very special delivery from a local business meant to help lessen the burden on those currently going through treatment for severe illness.
Representatives of Hills Pet Nutrition dropped off a carload of care packages, which contained various toiletries and self-care items, including toothpaste, body wash, deodorant and more. According to Hill’s Human Resources Business Associate Lori Tubach, the delivery is part of Hill’s and parent company Colgate’s We Rise With You initiative, a critical illness effort that seeks to support cancer patients.
According to statistics from AARP, the average cost for cancer treatment can range between $1,000 to $20,000 annually. Radiation Oncology Manager for Central Care Justin Branine says the donation was a very welcome one, noting that providing something as simple as personal hygiene items can help reduce a great deal of everyday stressors for those going through an incredibly stressful ordeal.
Tubach says they are proud to be able to support the community and its residents through the initiative, adding it was a total team effort from everyone at Hills.
Tubach adds she hopes the initiative shows those battling cancer and other severe illnesses that there are those in the community who see their struggles and want to stand with them.
Brahmine expressed his gratitude to the entire Hill’s organization for their efforts, noting this is just another great partnership among many that allows them to assist their patients beyond just providing quality treatment.
