Noon Monday is the deadline for candidates wanting to either enter or exit the 2025 election cycle, and there was activity in Lyon County on Tuesday.
Incumbent Ryan Gasche became the first candidate on the USD 252 Southern Lyon County Position 2 ballot. Fellow incumbent Melissa Carson is the only candidate on the Position 3 ballot, and the district does not have a candidate yet for Position 6.
Meanwhile, Reading Mayor Malonne Davies has withdrawn from that race, leaving no candidates on the ballot for that position.
At this time, there are not enough candidates to force an Aug. 5 primary election. State law says there needs to be three times the number of candidates for a given position — plus another candidate — to set a primary.
