Friday has been a busy day for Unbound Gravel, and not just because of the official activities.
Lyon County Emergency Communications reported “traffic and cyclist violations all over the place” shortly after the launch of the XL 350. Numbers haven’t been released, but the dispatch call center was “overrun with non-emergency calls” at times Friday afternoon.
Emergency Communications is urging residents to call the department’s non-emergency phone number at 620-343-4225 for complaints, thus leaving the 911 number open for its intended purpose of handling emergency calls.
Separately, there was a report of an unnamed Unbound rider having a bike stolen from a garage at a local Airbnb near Ninth and Chestnut. Merchant Cycles loaned the rider a bike before the original bike was found.
