Most of the state tax collection categories went well above estimates in the May report, but the totals were largely similar to where they were last year.
The state had almost $658 million in tax revenues for May, almost 32 percent above estimates but down marginally from a year ago.
Individual income tax receipts, nearly $315 million, were 85 percent above estimates but up just over 3 percent from a year ago. Combined retail sales and compensating use tax numbers were over $282 million, 4.1 percent above projections and flat from last year.
Corporate income tax collections of $29.2 million missed both the forecast by nearly 3 percent and last year’s mark by almost 27 percent.
