Nothing says National Teachers Hall of Fame Week for the Emporia Municipal Band quite like a rousing rendition of The Chicken Dance.
Inductees past and present enjoyed the Chicken Dance — and the rest of the band concert at Fremont Park on Thursday.
The concert followed the Hall of Fame’s first visit as a group to the Brown v Topeka Board of Education National Historic Site earlier Thursday, as well as a trivia contest, official proclamation from the Emporia City Commission, an open house highlighting renovations to the Hall’s space inside Emporia State Visser Hall and the annual appearance on KVOE’s On-Air Chat.
Friday’s schedule has the rededication to the National Memorial to Fallen Educators at 10 am. KVOE.com/TV will have that broadcast at the Visser Hall Skillett Atrium. The annual induction banquet begins at 6 pm at Emporia State’s Memorial Union Webb Hall.
