Two all-star events took place across Kansas on Saturday.
In Salina, the KBCA All-Star Games were held. Lebo’s Saige Hadley scored four points for the girls gold team as the girls blue team defeated gold, 70-61. Olpe coach Chris Schmidt was an assistant on the boys blue team who fell to gold, 107-61.
In Dodge City, the 52nd annual Kansas Shrine Bowl was held with the West defeating the East, 26-8. Council Grove’s Ace Monihen and Holden Ziegler played in the game, while former Council Grove coach Butch Hayes was an assistant. Emporia State signee and Cheney native Josh Burdick was named the West’s Most Valuable Player. Ziegler is also an Emporia State signee. Washburn Rural’s Caden Estrada and Chanute’s Cade Small were Emporia State’s signees who played on the east team.
The Kansas Shrine Bowl is set to return to Welch Stadium for the next three years, following a multi-year partnership was signed by the Shrine Bowl and Emporia State in December.
