The Parsons Police Department says a domestic violence incident led to the death of a woman in Parsons and, later, a man in Greenwood County.
Parsons Police says officers were dispatched to an address in the city limits for a disturbance after screams were followed by two gunshots. Officers say they found a woman dead with a gunshot wound.
Officers talked with the victim’s son, who reported a violent domestic incident developed between the woman and her boyfriend, Steve Antone McDonald. The son said McDonald hit him in the head, leading to the woman fleeing the residence down a nearby street before she was shot.
McDonald returned to the house, took the victim’s car keys and fled. Wilson County deputies located the suspect vehicle shortly afterward, and Greenwood County deputies helped with an attempted traffic stop near Severy. After that, there was a short chase before the suspect vehicle crashed and McDonald was found inside with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
Parsons Police says McDonald had recently been living in Parsons with the victim and had a domestic violence, including an April 24 arrest on suspicion of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated domestic battery, child endangerment, criminal threat and criminal damage. He had been released on bond May 15.
