Commercial Street turned into CoMoorcial street Saturday with a special appearance by a four-legged social media star.
Midwest Mama Co. hosted the Mini Moo on Main Street event, where residents had the opportunity to meet Lilly the Miniature Cow, who has been the star of various social media videos that have gained a large following. In fact, one of the TikToks featuring Lilly has received over 1 million views. From the late morning to early afternoon hours, residents had the opportunity to step up and interact with Lilly, take photos and even purchase some mini-cow-inspired merchandise.
According to Kinsey Jones, owner of Midwest Mama Co., the stream of visitors was steady from start to finish and included individuals from all walks of life and even some from beyond Emporia. According to Jones, interactions with individuals beyond Emporia’s borders are not uncommon as Lilly has quite a following both nationally and internationally.
Jones says bringing Lilly out into the public served a number of purposes, including an opportunity to provide the community with some “bovine education.”
Jones says education has always played a role in Lilly’s social media presence; however, in recent years, she says many people have taken inspiration and joy from the bovine star.
Saturday’s event was also a special occasion, as Saturday was Lilly’s fifth birthday.
