Burlington Northern Santa Fe has confirmed a minor derailment in an Emporia rail yard Monday evening.
The railroad says there were no injuries, no hazardous materials response needed and no impact to mainline operations nearby. The railroad has not said how many cars were involved, what the cars were carrying, what triggered the incident or what repairs were made.
A KVOE listener had sent photos indicating several train cars coming off a siding track in a yard northwest of Saint Catherine Catholic Church. Lyon County Emergency Dispatch says it received no reports of issues, either from BNSF or the general public.
