The annual Emporia Fireworks show is scheduled for Friday. Emporia Police Captain Ray Mattas was a guest on the KVOE Newsmaker 2 segment on Wednesday and provided important details on the event.
Mattas also details the importance of abiding by the rules on the 4th of July to keep everyone safe.
Gates will open at 7 p.m. at Emporia State’s Welch Stadium Friday night. The Emporia Municipal Band will also be performing at 8 p.m.
Mattas would like to remind the public that alcohol, glass containers, or personal fireworks are prohibited on campus. The public is welcome to sit on the field at Welch Stadium, but gum or sunflower seeds are not allowed.
