A Wichita man was killed in a motorcycle crash in Osage County on Sunday.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says the wreck happened at around 7:40 pm at Kansas Turnpike mile marker 163.8 southbound, or over 35 miles northeast of Emporia. Troopers say the motorcycle, driven by 69-year-old Christian Kaufman, was in the outside lane when it left the highway to the right for unlisted reasons. Kaufman overcorrected back onto the highway, where the motorcycle overturned on its side. The motorcycle skidded off the highway before hitting a delineator post and rolled into a ditch. As Kaufman was ejected, the motorcycle rolled deeper into the ditch before stopping and catching fire.
Kaufman was pronounced dead soon after the crash. He was wearing a helmet.
