The Emporia Land Bank is moving into Tuesday night’s Lyon County tax foreclosure sale with a goal of adding to its inventory.
The Land Bank finalized its plan during a virtual meeting Monday, approving board members Neil Dean and Carlos Garate to attend the sale, register for the sale, submit bids and handle documents needed to finalize purchases on behalf of the Land Bank in case City Community Development Coordinator Jeff Lynch cannot attend. The board has a $40,000 budget after a separate meeting in June.
The sale begins at 6 pm and includes seven properties, four of which are in the Emporia city limits:
*301 Sunnyslope
*913 Lawrence
*918 Market
*510 West
The Land Bank was created in 2019 to buy vacant properties and help the development process for new homes in town. It currently has four properties in its inventory.
