An Emporia business is receiving more than $40,000 in state tax credits as part of a program through the Kansas Department of Commerce.
It was announced Wednesday by Kansas Lieutenant Governor and Secretary of Commerce David Toland that KDOC has awarded more than $4.1 million through the Community Service Tax Credit Program (CSP) to 30 non-profit organizations across the state. Through the CSP program, non-profit and healthcare organizations in rural areas with populations less than 15,000 can receive a 70 percent credit, while organizations in communities with more than 15,000 in population are eligible to receive a 50 percent credit.
The purpose of the tax credits is to “improve” the ability of organizations to take on major capital campaigns which focus on community service, non-governmental crime prevention, youth apprenticeship and technical training, and healthcare services. Among the 30 organizations benefiting from this round of funding is Emporia’s Imaginarium, which is receiving $40,500.
The credits will go to support the business’s move to its new location in the former Graves Drugs location at 609 Commercial Street.
The CSP program began back in 1994.
