A man initially accused of low-level methamphetamine distribution in Lyon County has been sentenced on lesser charges.
Ivan Guzman was sentenced to two years probation after accepting a plea agreement on single counts of attempted distribution and paraphernalia possession. There is an underlying prison term of 18 months for any violations.
Guzman was originally charged this past February with distribution, paraphernalia possession and circumventing an ignition interlock device.
Separately, an Emporia woman has received probation after reaching a plea agreement on an attempted escape charge.
Anissa Gardner-Lagg was sentenced this week to 12 months of probation with an underlying 7-month prison term.
Gardner-Lagg was initially facing an aggravated escape charge after allegedly not returning to the Lyon County Detention Center while being held on a separate methamphetamine distribution count. She pleaded no contest to attempted aggravated escape in May.
Gardner-Lagg has been sentenced to 18 months probation for low-level meth distribution and child endangerment as connected to a case developing in August 2024. A separate low-level meth distribution case is set to have trial start as soon as July 21, according to the Kansas District Court Public Access Portal.
