An Emporia woman suffered potentially serious injuries as part of a wreck on the Kansas Turnpike early Thursday.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says the single-vehicle crash happened around 2:20 am at mile marker 88, almost 40 miles southwest of Emporia and about five miles southwest of the Cassoday exit. Troopers say 30-year-old Tyrisha McCormick was northbound when her car hit a deer. The car hit the center barrier wall and then went off the highway into a ditch.
McCormick was wearing her seatbelt, but she was taken to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita for treatment.
