Early work continues for Emporia’s Southeast Transmission waterline replacement project.
City Engineer Jim Ubert says about 1,000 feet of small-bore pipe has been installed — and several crews are working in different directions as things get started.
Work officially began on Seventh at Garfield, but construction has also stretched north to the official starting point at 12th and Garfield. Over the next 15 months or so, construction will work all the way to South and Carter. This will lead to installation of new 20-inch line, as well as service lines and other connections. It also continues significant improvements to Emporia’s water service network, following work on Peyton Street three years ago and the yearlong 24th and Prairie project that finished last month.
