The KVOE signal coverage area can expect another steambath of a day Wednesday, followed by a short-term, stormy break from the heat and humidity Thursday.
After air temperatures in the mid-90s and heat index readings as high as 101 Tuesday, we will have similar temperatures and slightly higher relative humidity Wednesday — meaning heat index readings as high as 105 for much of the afternoon. There is a moderate chance of showers and storms early Thursday morning and a slightly better chance during the daylight hours Thursday, including a marginal risk for wind gusts up to 60 mph. Given the amount of moisture in the atmosphere, heavy rainfall is possible, and the National Weather Service has mentioned localized flooding as a concern with as much as 1-2 inches of rain per hour coming from any storms.
Highs Thursday will be in the low 80s, but low 90s return Friday — and upper 90s are expected Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
KVOE, KVOE.com and KVOE social media will have updates.
