The forecasted high temperatures have been dropped slightly, but heat and humidity are still expected all week.
After a high of 97 degrees and a peak heat index of 107 Sunday, there will be more of the same for much of the week — highs in the upper 90s and peak heat index readings of 102-110. Here’s National Weather Service meteorologist Bill Gargan:
The current forecast also calls for a high of 101 this upcoming Sunday.
An excessive heat warning remains in effect through 7 pm Wednesday. Gargan says the warning could be revisited later this week, and he says the rest of the month could be uncomfortably hot.
With the heat in place for the foreseeable future, Gargan reminds residents to drink lots of water as the best way to stay hydrated. He also encourages residents working outside to shift their peak work load times to the morning or evenings if at all possible.
KVOE and KVOE.com will have updates and reminders while the heat wave is in place.
