Lyon County’s Fiscal Year 2026 budget could be ready for publication come Thursday.
As part of their regular action meeting, county commissioners will consider approving the budget for publication, the final step in the budgeting process before final approval. As it stands, the commission is considering a $40 million budget, comprising $33 million in levied funds and a mill levy rate of 56.818, which is nearly flat but still a decrease from the prior year’s levy of 56.972.
Separately, commissioners will consider the fiscal year 2025 year-end report for both the Kansas Department of Corrections Juvenile Services grant and adult services, to be presented by Director Erin Rodriguez and Beverly Hillbish of Community Corrections.
Commissioners will then hold a trio of discussions with Lyon County Engineer Wayne Scritchfield focusing on procedures for addressing road upgrade petitions, a letter received by commissioners and Scritchfield regarding concerns for the creek crossing on Road K7 north of Olpe City Lake and a drainage study on Road G north of Road 160 (Merrick Tower Road).
The meeting will begin at 10 am inside the Lyon County Courthouse Commission Chambers.
