Hot and steamy conditions so far this week could be the precursor to heavy, possibly flooding rainfall for much of the KVOE listening area.
The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for Lyon, Coffey, Morris, Osage and Wabaunsee counties from 4 pm Thursday to 1 pm Friday. Showers and storms actually return to the forecast on a slight level early Thursday, with increasing chances of storm coverage through Thursday night. Rain could be heavy at times and could accumulate to over 3 inches in certain areas.
Once the rain ends, conditions go back to hot and sticky with highs in the upper 90s for the weekend and near 100 to start next week.
KVOE and KVOE.com will have updates.
