Separate wrecks north of Emporia led to injuries for people Friday morning.
Emporia Fire/EMS and Lyon County deputies responded to the 2400 block of Road L, about six miles north of Emporia and near the junction of L, Kansas Highway 99 and Road 240, around 6:15 am. Deputy Martin DeWitt says an SUV had overturned on the east side of Road L, and one person, 30-year-old Nathan Boyce, was trapped inside. Boyce was extricated and taken to Newman Regional Health with suspected non-life-threatening injuries.
DeWitt says rain was falling at the time of the wreck. The SUV had apparently rolled multiple times.
Around 7:30 am, Emporia Fire/EMS and Kansas Highway Patrol troopers went to the Kansas Turnpike for a wreck at mile marker 145, two miles southwest of the Admire-Council Grove exit. Rescue personnel took one person to a hospital afterward. Other details on that wreck are currently unclear.
