Monday night and early Tuesday morning wasn’t a great time for power outages across much of the KVOE listening area.
Evergy had a notable outage that unfolded shortly before 2 am from just northeast of Emporia to places like Topeka, Perry, Lecompton and Eudora before it was resolved shortly before 4:30 am. In Osage County, towns like Burlingame and Osage City were included. Over 750 customers were impacted.
Around 9 pm, Neosho Rapids had almost 90 customers offline for about an hour after an animal caused a fuse to blow as part of a separate outage.
Flint Hills Rural Electric Cooperative, meanwhile, had a fire at its substation four miles east of Council Grove after two regulators failed. The full substation had to go offline while the fire was put out and equipment was replaced. Power went out for about 500 Flint Hills customers from around 9 pm to 1 am. Another 800-plus Evergy customers went offline as Evergy de-energized a line so repairs could take place.
