The sixth annual Halfway to Everywhere Music and Arts Festival is coming up and will have a lot of changes from years past.
First will be the timeframe for the annual event, which is set to welcome over 20 musical acts over two days. Traditionally, the event had been held over Labor Day Weekend; however, this year it will be taking place in early October, Friday, October 10th, and Saturday, October 11th, to be exact.
H2E founder and lead organizer Hank Osterhout, a recent guest of KVOE’s Talk of Emporia, says there were a few reasons for the shift in schedule, one of the main ones being the weather.
Also new to this year’s event will be the addition of camping at Champion’s Landing, where the main show stage will be on Saturday. According to Osterhout, traditional camping will be available for $25 and RV camping will be available at Champs for $35 on top of the $20 fee for the event itself.
Osterhout believes the addition of camping will help bring more visitors from outside of Emporia to the two-day event.
Also, this year there will be a battle of the bands on Friday night where three acts will be performing on a stage in the green space on 9th Avenue, vying for a spot on the main stage Saturday. Osterhout says that while this may be a new activity to some, it’s a rebirth of a competition held as part of the first Halfway to Everywhere.
Tickets for Halfway to Everywhere are now available along with more information and a complete list of acts online at H2EFest.org.
