Cooler temperatures are now into the KVOE listening area following two rounds of thunderstorm activity Wednesday.
Late afternoon and late evening storms did bring a small handful of severe storm warnings to portions of the area, namely Greenwood County, on Wednesday; however, there have been no reports of any significant impacts from said activity. The storms also did not bring much in the way of significant rain totals.
At the KVOE Studios, we received 0.2 inches of rainfall. If you have rain totals to report, please message the Bluestem Farm and Ranch Supply text line 620-342-5863.
What the storms did bring, however, is much-needed relief from the extended period of extreme heat that impacted the area for the past two weeks, which saw air temperatures regularly approaching 100 degrees and heat index values well in excess of 100. Thursday, temperatures will approach 80 degrees with a high of 79 forecasted, followed by temperatures in the low to mid-80s through the upcoming weekend into next week.
Things are expected to begin heating up again by midweek with temperatures returning to the mid-90s. Stay with KVOE, KVOE.com and KVOE social media for more weather updates as they develop.
