4-H show events concluded Monday with the annual premium sale at the show barn.
The event highlights the significant amount of work done by 4-H participants, according to Lyon County Extension Ag Agent Brian Rees.
Besides highlighting the amount of work done by 4-H participants, Rees says the premium sale also pinpoints the lessons 4-H provides. It also demonstrates the strength of Lyon County agriculture in one key way.
From the Lyon County perspective, Commission Chair Ken Duft says the fair serves as a point of community pride. And it should.
Duft served as KVOE’s proxy buyer for chickens. He says there is one thing he watches for when he’s helping in that role.
While 4-H activities are now over, KVOE’s special 4-H reports continue this week:
*Tuesday has the sheep and goat shows
*Wednesday features swine and poultry
*Thursday will look at round robin and the premium sale
And events continue all week at the Fairgrounds:
*The carnival begins Tuesday
*The antique tractor pull takes place Thursday
*The demolition derby ends the fair Saturday
KVOE will have special remote broadcasts from these three events.
