Emporia State didn’t go far to find its next athletic director. Senior associate athletic director Steve Rodecap has been named the next athletic director for ESU. Rodecap joined Hornet athletics in 2023 as an assistant athletic director of operations on then athletic director David Spafford’s staff. He was later elevated to his current position and served as the sport administrator for football, men’s and women’s basketball, and softball. Rodecap also helped lead ESU in hosting the 2024 NCAA DII Outdoor Track & Field National Championship at Welch Stadium. Rodecap previously was the director of tennis at Marquette leading the Golden Eagles a 262-201 record as the men’s head coach with one Big East title. He previously had been the head coach at Northern Illinois and was an assistant at Texas Christian after a standout career at Ball State on the court.
