Flint Hills Technical College’s Advancing Tomorrow campaign is taking another big step forward on the fundraising side.
A partnership with Emporia State Federal Credit Union involves a $20,000 gift from the credit union to the college. In return, a conference room in the new Advanced Industry Education Center will bear the credit union’s name. Credit Union general Manager Angie Miller says this was an easy decision for the credit union board.
Miller says Advancing Tomorrow will have a major positive impact.
Flint Hills Technical College Vice President for Advancement Mike Crouch says this is another major step forward in the campaign — which comes at a time of longstanding growth for the college.
Crouch says this also reflects the credit union’s support of education in general terms.
The new facility is the key aspect of the college’s biggest fundraising project in its history — $17 million — as the college brings together programs like advanced manufacturing, industrial engineering, automation and robotics and bolsters them them with brand-new equipment and technology. The program has already announced a $2 million lead gift from the WS and EC Jones Testamentary Trust.
