The hottest air of the year is on top of us Friday.
Air temperatures could get as hot as 101 by late afternoon.
Heat index readings have been in the 105-107 range before, and that is where they will end up Friday.
All area counties are in a heat advisory from 1-8 pm.
A ridge of high pressure is breaking down to a degree this weekend, giving us high temperatures in the mid-90s for the weekend and chances of showers and storms from Saturday night through lunchtime Tuesday. Most of the chances are slight, but there is now a good chance of storm activity Sunday night. There is a marginal severe weather risk for wind and hail Saturday, followed by another marginal risk areawide Sunday.
