Coming soon to the KVOE listening area — and beyond — the United Way of the Flint Hills’ annual campaign kickoff.
Coming sooner? A Day of Giving effort. Drive chair Yahaira Ibarra says this is the first time the United Way has taken such a step.
The Day of Giving effort goes from Monday through Sept. 9. Part of that includes a giveaway of two tickets to the Kansas City Chiefs home game against Philadelphia on Sept. 14.
The kickoff event is Aug. 21, but Ibarra says energy is already building for the public campaign.
Recently, the United Way has been focusing on expanding its reach into previously underserved demographics. Ibarra wants to expand that push.
Kickoff activities will be from 5-7 pm Aug. 21 at the Lyon County History Center. The event will feature the unveiling of the campaign and other event details through the campaign celebration, which typically happens in May. To attend, register through members.emporiakschamber.org.
