The 2025 Lyon County Fair went out with a bang Saturday night with the annual demolition derby.
Hundreds of individuals filled the Lyon County Fairgrounds Grand Stand arena to watch the action and cheer on their favorite drivers. Lyon County Fairboard member Aaron Armitage recalls the energy that was in the arena Saturday, saying it was one of the best shows he can recall.
This year was not only notable for the energy in the air, but also for having two back-to-back female winners in separate heats, Daylee Stukey who won the throwback class and Chelsea Schuh who won the most wanted fine arts class. Armitage says he believes that it added to the excitement on the night.
The derby closed down three weeks of fair activities, including 4H shows, the Buck Rumble and Roll, antique tractor pull and the annual carnival. This year’s fair did have a longer and more spread-out schedule than years past and Armitage says there were some pros and cons.
Planning for the 2026 Lyon County Fair is set to begin in the next few weeks. A quick reminder that if you would like to view results from the fair’s 4H activities, you can find them by visiting the 4H page.
