Emporia State formally introduced its next athletic director Monday at the Kossover Family Tennis Complex, a fitting venue for new AD Steve Rodecap who ascends to the head job in Emporia in just under two years following a two-decade long career as a men’s tennis head coach. President Ken Hush made the introduction.
Hush said there were several qualities identified by his search committee that led them to recommend Rodecap.
Rodecap didn’t apologize for being emotional in his excitement for the opportunity.
Rodecap said in his experience as a coach, he knows that administration can make a difference in the outcome of a program both positively and negatively.
Rodecap replaces David Spafford who hired him onto his staff in 2023 and who resigned in June.
