Budgets and updates are ahead for the USD 253 Emporia Board of Education meeting Wednesday.
Board members will have time to review the 2025-26 budget and also set public hearing dates for both the budget and the district’s revenue neutral rate.
Separately, the board will get an update on after-school care, as the district is calling the revived RecXtra program through the Emporia Recreation Commission. The Rec Commission has said RecXtra will begin Aug. 25 at all USD 253 elementary schools and will take place only on full school days. Wednesday’s discussion at the school board meeting will focus on the agreement between USD 253 and the Rec Commission.
Other conversation points include an update on Extended School Year services for students with disabilities, student handbook updates and board policy updates. An update to the classified salary schedule could be approved during the consent agenda, where several items can be addressed with one vote.
The board meeting begins at 6 pm at Mary Herbert Education Center.
