The summer pool season closes down this weekend at Emporia’s Jones Aquatic Center.
Supervisor Jennifer Wegener says concession specials began Wednesday and will continue through the weekend. There will be a free swim from 1-3 pm Sunday, followed by the always-popular Pooch Plunge. Wegener says there will be some special preparations between the free swim and Pooch Plunge.
Cost is $4 a dog. Small dogs like Yorkies, cocker spaniels, beagles, terriers, Chihuahuas, terriers, pugs, corgis, dachshunds and the like are encouraged to attend between 3:30-4 pm. Larger breeds are encouraged to attend between 4-5:30 pm. Owners must control their pets at all times, while dogs must be current on their vaccinations.
Meanwhile, children under age 18 are not allowed in the water during Pooch Plunge.
