The MIAA released its preseason coaches poll for the 2025 MIAA women’s soccer season on Friday. The Lady Hornets are picked 10th in the poll after tying for eighth in the standings last year but missing the MIAA Tournament on tiebreakers. Central Missouri edged out Central Oklahoma for the top spot with each team getting four first place votes. Only nine points separated the top four teams with Missouri Western picked third and Washburn fourth despite having the most first place votes with five. Jane Grimley-Gunn begins her second season in Emporia after leading the Lady Hornets to a 6-8-3 record last season. ESU will scrimmage at Butler County Community College as part of their preseason on Sunday. ESU opens the year on the road at Drury Thursday, September 4.
