An investigation nearly nine months in the making is now in the public eye after the arrest of Emporian Randee Lee Jones on Thursday.
Emporia Police Capt. Lisa Hayes says Jones, age 46, allegedly embezzled over $100,000 from Mel’s Tire between October 2021 and October 2024. Hayes says officers began investigating a report of an employee theft from the business in November 2024. Additional details about the investigation are currently pending.
Jones has been arrested on suspicion of felony theft with a value of $25,000 to $100,000, as well as one count of identity theft, misrepresentation to cause economic harm. Formal charges are pending and Hayes says the law enforcement investigation is ongoing.
