Court dates are pending, but they are coming after an Emporia woman was arrested last week for allegedly embezzling money from an Emporia business.
Lyon County Attorney Amy Aranda says 46-year-old Randee Lee Jones is now officially charged with theft ranging from $25,000 to $100,000, as well as identity theft. Lyon County District Court says Jones has bonded out of jail after her arrest Thursday.
Jones is officially accused of taking around $100,000 from Mel’s Tire over a three-year period between January 2021 and October 2024. Emporia Police Capt. Lisa Hayes says officers continue their investigation. Most case details are not being publicized at this time and the legal complaint has not posted to the Kansas District Court Public Access Portal.
