After some unexpected storm activity Monday, more storms are possible Tuesday.
Showers and storms began developing across the KVOE listening area after 3 am Tuesday. Rainfall totals are pending. This round of storms could end Tuesday morning. Other storms could possibly develop by late afternoon and continue through the early evening hours. Gusts up to 60 mph are the main hazard with both time periods.
This follows isolated to scattered storm activity Monday morning and isolated activity late Monday afternoon. The KVOE studios got 0.25 inches total Monday and another 0.10 inches so far Tuesday. Other totals:
*Emporia Municipal Airport: 0.04 inches Monday, 0.17 inches Tuesday
*1100 block Constitution: 0.40 inches Monday
*Admire: 0.60 inches Monday
*Allen: 1.20 inches Monday
*Americus: 1.80 inches Monday
Monday also continued the recent heat as high temperatures got into the mid-90s and heat index readings got as high as 105. Similar conditions are expected Tuesday.
