Less than a month is ahead before Emporia’s All Veterans Tribute activities begin.
The activity slate begins with the 23rd annual golf tournament Sept. 6 at the Emporia Golf Course. Longtime organizer Jesse Solis believes there will be another good turnout.
Once again, the format is a four-person scramble. Cost is $50 a person for people with annual memberships at the Golf Course, climbing to $75 a person with no annual membership. Solis says proceeds will be split between several projects and locations.
The core of All Veterans Tribute activities are Nov. 8-11 in Emporia, although events will take place through the first half of November:
*Nov. 1: Veterans Artist Opening Reception, Emporia Arts Center. Exhibit continues through Nov. 18
*Through Nov. 6: Quilts of Gratitude exhibit, Emporia Public Library. Annual quilt presentation is Nov. 9 at the Lyon County Fairgrounds Anderson Building
*Nov. 8-15: The Children’s War: Images of World War II in Children’s Books, Emporia State University William Allen White Library
